Thank you for taking time to visit my web site. I would like to invite you to view photos of my work, and see the different homes, murals and fantasy rooms I have created. If this is the type of home you would like for you and your family, please contact me for an appointment. Remember, I also can come to your home for private lessons on anything from faux finishing on furniture or walls, to flower arrangements and party plans. Let me know how I can help! Elegant Hand-Painted Swirl GlassCreate elegant hand painted glassware using traditional spray paint and water. It is so easy and fun, you will want to paint every glass in your house!! This project begins with a good foundation. Look for glassware that has unusual shapes and designs. It is important that the glass be totally clear for the best effect. Thick glass also gives a richer look to this project. I decided that I wanted to make some large, oversized, expensive looking chargers for my dining room table. I was not having much luck finding glass plates large enough to transform. After searching through many stores, I hit the jackpot for the best selection of clear glass accessories! Not far from me, a brand new COST PLUS WORLD MARKET opened at I-17 and Happy Valley. I was thrilled to see all the possibilities, and large selection, for this project all in one store. As usual, I like to share great sources for projects like this one, and I highly recommend a shopping trip there to get supplies. You will be impressed with the great selection! To begin, make sure glass is completely clean and free of moisture, dirt and oil. Make sure to clean off labels and residue. For vases and bowls, carefully pour approximately 1 to 2 cups of water into the bottom, trying not to splash sides. With gloves on, spray paint into water. Quickly swirl paint around sides of container, add more paint if needed. Pour paint and water into bucket lined with paper. The paper allows the paint to stick to it, and this makes for easy clean up. Next let the paint dry before next step. Repeat the process with the next color. Make sure to leave some of the glass clear, so the final step will be effective. After all paint is completely dry, spray the inside of container with metallic spray. Sometimes two coats are necessary. Make sure paint dry and cured before use. For plates and flat objects, fill foil lined pan with 2/3 water. Spray paint directly into water, allowing it to swirl. Immediately dip plate into water, picking up the swirls of paint. Let dry, and proceed with your next color. After completely dry, spray with your choice of metallic paint. Always carefully hand wash items if needed. This is not recommended for items that come in contact with food, it is a decorative method only. I hope you have as much fun creating your own glass masterpieces as I did. Just a reminder, my series of jewelry classes at the Joanne Arrowhead location are beginning this evening, and every Wednesday night this month. Call for more information or contact me.
